Plum Bob Timber Sale (WA DNR)

The Plum Bob Timber Sale located north of Belfair in Mason County Washington contains a G2/S2 imperiled plant community, Pacific Rhododendrum/Douglas Fir/Western Hemlock/Salal/Evergreen Huckleberry. This plant population is considered imperiled and sits right next to the category of S1 or “critically imperiled” which is the most urgent state ranking before a particular community is considered extinct. Forests that contain any semblance of this rare plant community must be preserved, it remains to be seen whether the DNR will drop this plant community from the timber sale (it occurs in unit 3) or if they will put their blinders on and log it.

As of March 2023 the Board of Natural Resources is set to approve this area for logging in the next month or two.

UPDATE: This sale has been removed from the proposed Mae auction list due to the G2/S2 plant community, it's yet to be seen if the DNR tries to log this area in June.
